Cultural Events In Steamboat Springs, CO

To promote education and awareness about opera and the vocal arts, the Emerald City Opera does opera presentations. It tries to improve the quality of life in Northwest Colorado and Steamboat Springs by advocating collaboration between world famous performers and local artists. It also promotes the appreciation of music, and encourages local participation in musical events.

Strings in the Mountains/Strings Music Festival is a summer music festival, and the Festival also puts up a series of concerts for the holiday and winter season. Strings is a music festival known throughout the country which puts up over 70 performances of world rhythms, rock, country, chamber music, jazz, bluegrass, and a lot of other genres every summer season and has existed ever since 1988. Participants include popular musicians from the most illustrious orchestras, Grammy nominees and winners and major competition winners.

The Tread of Pioneers Museum is housed in a 1908 Queen Anne-style Victorian home which is characterized by turn-of-the-century interiors. The displays include a lot of mining, ranching and pioneer life artifacts, the skiing history exhibit, and a Native American arts display. Historic and Cultural Tours are presented around the town of Steamboat Springs. The Tread of Pioneers Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11am-5pm. Admission fees are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors over 62, $1 for kids ages 6 - 12, and admission for kids under 6 years is free of charge. Admission for Routt County residents is also free of charge, but ID is required.

Artists' Gallery of Steamboat will appeal to a wide variety of tastes, interests and budgets in artwork and features a variety of oils, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, photographs, fabric and mono-prints, ceramics, jewelry, fused glass and mineral and bronze sculptures. The artwork is both modern and traditional and exhibit the charming beauty of the Yampa Valley in addition to the rich western ranching background in all its forms. The Artists' Gallery of Steamboat is located at 1009 Lincoln Avenue and is open every day of the week.

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council is a nonprofit organization set up by the community and created in 1972. It is dedicated to art and cultural programming and serves as an advocate and advisor for more than thirty AFFILIATE local arts organizations. It is located in the historic Train Depot along the Yampa River in the west end of town. It likewise operates the Eleanor Bliss Center for the Arts at The Depot. The Arts Depot offers community space, visual arts galleries, and a performing arts space.
