Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival 2013 Isn t Too Far Off

If you love wintertime events, you won't want to miss out on the Winter Carnival at Steamboat Springs, CO. This carnival started in 1914 and the entertainment hasn't quit since then. The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC) arranges the occasion and sees that every little thing runs easily. It started off as a release for celebration to assist the area folks battle cabin fever at the peak of the winter season and continues to celebrate winter weather by bringing together neighbors and friends and helping everyone to enjoy many of the traditions of the city often known as Ski Town USA.

The occasion features an assortment of activities showcasing the western tradition of Steamboat Springs in addition to its lengthy background of winter sporting activities. You can get to discover everything like the Street Events in which kids are dragged down Main Street on snow skis drawn by horses to the Lighted Man at the Night Show Extravaganza who wears a suit operated by batteries that weighs more than 70 lbs. The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club is among the oldest ski clubs in the nation and has the honor of having been home to 79 Winter Olympians up to now. The youngsters of Steamboat Springs become adults taking part in the Street Events and it is the real honor to win a prize during these activities.

The Winter Carnival 2013 runs from 5 February, 2014 to 9 February, 2014 and starts with the traditional opening ceremonies scheduled for Wednesday evening featuring the Winter Carnival Queen and King. Thursday through Friday, the activities planned consist of ski jumping, dual slalom bicycle racing, a snow-boarding jam session, and tubing party amongst additional activities. The showcase activities on the weekend are the Winter Carnival Street Events plus the Night Show Extravaganza. One of many local favorites is the "Donkey Jump" by which children soar from a jump and go up to 40 or 50 ft. high. Besides the "Donkey Jump", Horse Events in addition include Ring & Box, Ring & Spear, Street Slalom and Ski Joring.

The Street Events in addition feature the shovel race for individuals older than eighteen years in which you jump on your shovel and so are drawn down the street. The Street Events conclude on Sunday with the Diamond Hitch Parade showcasing the Steamboat Springs High School band on snow skis. The Night Show Extravaganza is packed with ski jumping through rings of fire, torchlight parade, and highlights the well known Lighted Man. It ends with a spectacular fireworks show at Howelsen Hill.
