What You Need To Know About The Bud Werner Library In Steamboat Springs


February 4, 1967 was a day of rejoicing as well as a day of mourning for the people of Steamboat Springs. On this day, the greats of the world of skiing joined together in a stunning new building at the west end of Lincoln Avenue to pay their final respect to Wallace "Bud" Werner. His name is above the door of the building and the sign states Bud Werner Memorial Library. The library started with 4700 books in its collection and the total is now above 14,000. In 1971, the museum was designated being a district library supplying it a larger base from which to raise earnings for routine maintenance and upkeep.

The library provides its services 7 days every week and the hours are the following:

Monday - Thursday: 9 am - 8 pm
Friday: 9 am - 6 pm
Saturday: 9 am - 5 pm
Sunday: 10 am - 5 pm
The library is closed on all Federal holidays.

Cooks With Books is an extremely popular seasonal cooking event at the library. It's going to be held on Monday, 16th of September 2013 at 5:30 pm. The site of the event is in the Staff Kitchen - Administration Wing. The event is designed for individuals who have fun with the process of exploring and creating fascinating food and then sharing it with other people. The facilitator of the event is Michelle Dover, Bud Werner Library's Circulation Services Manager. The book discussion group gets together each and every month. Participants get to cook a dish in line with the concept for the month after which share it with group members. The group is open to any person but involvement is limited to 15 people for each meeting.

Wild Films at the Library is actually a free series exhibiting award-winning international wildlife films entered at the International Wildlife Film Festival. On Wednesday 2 October at 6:30 PM, the film which is to be shown is he Last Lions. The film acquired a number of awards at the 2013 International Wildlife Film Festival including Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design and Best Editing. Set in place in the plush wetlands of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, this is the thrilling tale of a lioness ready to attempt anything at all and risk all in order to safeguard the lives of her family.
